Continental Tyre South Africa (CTSA), the only Continental plant in Africa, is celebrating its 75th year in business in 2022. The company’s history first started when General Tyre South Africa was established by the Williams Hunt Group and General Tyre USA in 1947. Almost 40 years later, in 1985, Continental AG and General Tyre SA signed an agreement to produce Continental branded tyres in South Africa. Thereafter, from 2013, CTSA became 100% owned by CAG.
In the 75 years since Continental found its home on South African soil, it has grown into a trusted, renowned and sought-after brand, known for more than just the premium and world class tyres it produces. With over 1 000 employees, Continental Tyre South Africa is home to a vibrant and innovative people whose Passion to Win ensures that we transform your mobility experience into the future. This allows us to supply our first-class tyres to all vehicle manufacturers in South Africa and even to the world beyond.
